Amsterdam Coffee Shops

Pink Floyd Coffeeshop

Pink Floyd Coffeeshop

Years ago, Pink Floyd Coffeeshop was considered by many to be one of the best in all of Amsterdam. And while the quality of the service and the products they sell has dropped since then, Pink Floyd is still a great place to hang out, and one of the more popular Amsterdam coffeeshops. Especially if you're a great lover of the band, Pink Floyd can be a fun place to spend a few hours— you'll love that every other album played is a Pink Floyd album.

Pink Floyd Coffeeshop is a relatively large coffeeshop set up on three floors. When you enter on the ground floor, you find a drink bar on the right (no alcohol served) and the dealer's bar on the left. In the back are some comfortable seats, and even a few computers for using in the internet. The second floor has a balcony, along with tables and chairs, and the top floor has lots of nice padded benches. It's a cozy place to spend a few hours, and the ambiance alone makes it worth a visit. With so much space, Pink Floyd doesn't tend to fill up like most of the other Amsterdam coffeeshops do, and you can often get a nice corner to yourself.

As far as food and drink go, Pink Floyd serves a nice breakfast, with cakes and cookies and nice baguette toasts. "Space cakes" are also available there, as well as wonderful teas and hot chocolates. For a somewhat touristy place, the food is cheap and surprisingly good.

If you're looking to smoke some really high quality marijuana, and want to order from an extensive menu, you may want to skip Pink Floyd. The quality is not of the highest, and since being taken over by the Dampkring chain of coffeeshops, the menu is simply a shortened version of Dampkring's. The staff here is friendly, but not particularly knowledgeable about the products they sell.

Just a note: when searching for the Pink Floyd Coffeeshop, look for one that say Umma Gumma on the front— this Amsterdam coffeeshop is referred to by both names.
