Amnesia Coffeeshop is another one of those unassuming Amsterdam coffeeshops you'd probably walk right on past it if you didn't know what was inside. And inside Amnesia is one of the best coffeeshops in Amsterdam. Consistently rated as having the best service of all Amsterdam's coffeeshops, Amnesia is definitely worth a visit it might just become the only coffeeshop you want to go to while in The 'Dam.

Many things about Amnesia Coffeeshop set this great little place apart. For one, it's one of the only places in Amsterdam that specializes in organic marijuana, making it a popular stop for those living an alternative lifestyle and looking for a relaxing, somewhat holistic place. With Amnesia's mellow house music and comfortable interior complete with plenty of pillows, cushions, and hand-painted tables, it's a welcoming place to spend an afternoon. The marijuana and hash for sale is of a very high standard and reasonably priced, and the staff is quite a lot friendlier than you'll find in most Amsterdam coffeeshops. They also very well-educated about the products they sell and happy to offer advice it's a great place for first-time or less knowledgeable smokers. They even have a couple of marijuana vaporizes that are free for clients to use (these are recommended for more veteran smokers).

Looking for more than marijuana? Amnesia also has some of the best food and drink around. Their specialty? 1950's American style fountain drinks. These range from old fashioned milk shakes and malts, to classic ice cream sodas, to now-impossible to find New York style egg creams. So even if you're not interested in smoking, Amnesia is a great place to stop in for a milk shake take it outside to one of their terrace tables (these have a wonderful view across the canals) to get away from the smoke.

If you feel like having a snack, try their apple cake with vanilla ice cream it's one of the best things on the menu.
